With the latest fallout from Ye‘s comments he has been spewing over the last month, his slipping out of billionaire status was met with the news of another Hip-Hop stalwart becoming a billionaire. Mount Vernon, NY’s Sean “Diddy” Combs has reached the billionaire’s table.

According to Zogblog, Combs has finally broken through that elite ceiling where only he and Jay-Z sits as far as Hip-Hop luminaries. Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists of 2022.

Although there has not been a list since 2019 when Greenberg was still an editor at Forbes, four of the five people on the list are returning with an addition who is the only one who is not a Black artist.

Jigga man tops the list with a reported value of $1.5 billion which is the highest amount that Mr. Shawn Carter has accumulated since becoming part of the billionaires club. He was the first rapper and/or Hip-Hop entrepreneur to become a billionaire and doesn’t look like he will relinquish that top spot any time soon.

The third Hip-Hop artist/entrepreneur to break that billion-dollar ceiling would be Sean “Diddy” Combs. The honcho who started Bad Boy Entertainment and has been building since was always expected to be one of the few that would enter that arena. Coming in third is the man who has been creating headlines daily for the past 6 weeks. He has also lost the top position and the keys to the billionaires club when he just couldn’t keep his mouth shut for a day or two, Ye. The artist, formally known as Kanye West, after losing his adidas deal, was dropped down with a purported worth of $500 million. Still a nice amount but more than half of what he was worth literally a week ago.

A newcomer on the Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists 2022 is someone the mainstream audience may not know. Gilbert “Berner” Milam is worth $410 million. He is a rapper from the San Francisco Bay area who owns the Cookies cannabis empire. He signed with Wiz Khalifa‘s Taylor Gang Records but obviously, has made the bulk of his fortune through the cannabis business.

The man who almost became Hip-Hop’s first billionaire until word of his Beats By Dre sale to Apple was leaked by Tyrese rounds out the top 5. N.W.A.’s Dr. Dre is valued at $400 million.
